Please make sure the runner who booked the tent selected a double tent/two mattresses otherwise they will only get one mattress/bed in the tent.

TRANSFERS, RESELL AND REFUNDS

Should you not be able to make the event for whatever reason you have the following options:

Please note that transferring tickets and resale platform will be open up to a week before the event.

How to Transfer Tickets

Transferring tickets allows you to send tickets securely from your Howler account to other people. When you transfer a ticket, the existing ticket is cancelled and a new ticket is issued to the email address specified. Both the original and new ticket holders will receive an email confirming the ticket transfer.

Heads up! Transferring a ticket means you will no longer have access to the ticket. The recipient is the new owner and the ticket will appear under their tickets tab. Entered the incorrect email address? Don’t worry, it happens. Please contact support@howler.co.za and one of our agents will assist you.

You cannot transfer a ticket to an email address that already has a ticket assigned to it. Each ticket needs to be assigned to a unique email address.

Transfers close on Friday, one week before each event. 

Fees: R200 per entry, R200 per tent.

Here’s how:

1. Login to howler.co.za using the email address that your tickets are listed under and click on the tickets tab at the top of the page.

2. Click the three dots on the right hand side of your ticket and select the transfer button.

3. Fill in the details of the person you’re transferring the ticket to and click “transfer”

4. Double check the email address you are sending the entry to, confirm transfer by selecting “pay now” to pay the R200 transfer fee. Please remember to complete this same process if you are selling your tent too.

How to resell your ticket

This is the ONLY place to sell your tickets, please do not use any other platform to sell. We will be directing the waiting list here and the Oxpecker Resell page will be available until about Friday, one week before the event. Please note that your entry ticket and accommodation ticket will be resold separately.

1. Log into your Howler account and select Tickets.
2. Click on the 3 dots on the right hand side of the ticket you’d like to sell.
3. Click the “Sell Ticket” option to put your ticket on sale.
*If your ticket is a complimentary ticket, you won’t be able to list it on Resale.

Set the price of your ticket. Enter your banking details. Please check this carefully. If your bank details are entered incorrectly, you’ll need to remove your ticket from Resale and relist it with the correct details.

Refund policy

How to get a refund

1: Login to howler.co.za using your Howler account email address and click on the tickets tab at the top of the page.

2. Click the 3 dots on the right hand side of your ticket and select the query ticket option. *Heads up! Only the original purchaser is able to request a refund.

3. Send our customer support a message requesting your refund.

Send Query. Your refund request will be processed within 3-5 days. Upon approval, your funds will be paid back into the account of the original purchaser within a further 3-5 days.

PAYMENT PLANS

Customers can use the LayUp Payment Plan to purchase Oxpecker tickets on Howler. For any Payment Plan queries please contact LayUp customer support directly. Oxpecker and Howler cannot assist with payment processing or special arrangements with LayUp. Your payment is between you and LayUp.

How it works

You will be redirected to the LayUp portal to create or login to your LayUp profile and complete your payment details.

You can select your payment terms within the options available on LayUp, with a 50% ticket value deposit. You will have up to 4 months (end December) to pay the balance off.

Your ticket will immediately reflect in your Howler profile under the “Tickets” tab. However, it will remain in “pending payment” mode until the final payment has been made on LayUp.

Please note that it does not include accommodation. Should you wish to share your tent with your runner, please remind them to select a tent for two.

RACE PACK COLLECTION

Our fun Race pack collection opens at 2pm on Friday all at the race village. Please park your car, come have a sherry shot and bring lots of energy to our race pack collection. Here you will meet our friendly team who will verify you with your ID and will receive the correct wristband as per your accommodation choice. You will receive your goodie bag and timing chip. You will then scan your timing chip and choose whether you’d like to take part in one of our FUN running categories, see info below! All runners and supporter packages will need to be picked up here, in person.

From there you will go back to your car and grab your bags and sleeping katunda and head to your tent. Please note: there will be security checking bands at the entrance to the venue. Runners and supporters cannot gain access into the race village/tented area without a band.

Staying in a room the runner who booked the room will receive one vehicle pass. One vehicle, per chalet may gain access. All runners in the vehicle will be checked to make sure they have the correct accommodation band in order to drive to the chalet.

Self camping: runners who are self camping will receive a different coloured wristband to identify that they are self camping and each vehicle will be checked, confirming all runners/supporters have the correct band on, so please make sure each runner selects self camping.

Staying in Kingfisher camp: runners who are staying in Kingfisher camp will receive a key for their tent as well as one vehicle pass. This will give you access to park closer to your tent. Security will confirm your vehicle by checking your vehicle pass.

Staying in a Fish Eagle tent: the runner who booked the tent will receive one vehicle pass. One vehicle, per tent may gain access.

What to know

Timing and Categories

Runners will all receive a timing chip and the race will be timed by our timing company. The results will be posted online as well as printed out at the event. This is where you will find your batch for Day 2 based on your Day 1’s time. Please remember to run in your batch as if you jump batches your time will be incorrect and you will receive a time penalty. Timing is overall best time of both days wins regardless of what batch you’re in. Timing and batch queries can be taken up with the timing team who will be on the finish line.

Our categories are fun and exciting! Categories are to be confirmed on Friday night and cannot be changed at a later stage. For example if you are winning the Tannie category and realise you are actually winning the race, you cannot change to overall after day 1.For the categories where you run in teams, you need to finish together. Prize money is only awarded to the overall winners on the African weekend.

RACE BRIEFING

In the evenings we all gather in the main tent and eat dinner and that is where the fun happens! Together with our MC we go through what we have planned in store for you for the weekend. It is recommended that all runners attend the fun race briefing. Runners are informed about the route, weather, safety and prizes will be given away in probably the most humorous way you’ve ever seen!
